Dr. Johnson is the director of the Life Quality Institute. He also leads the palliative-care initiative for Kaiser Permanente. When a patient has a palliative-care team assigned, Kaiser has a goal of 15 minutes (any time of day or night) to respond to a patient at home on issues/ concerns/problems. Dr. Johnson has data to show this is cost effective relative to a patient going to emergency care.
